Funny that you bring this up. Just today I got an warning email from SBC. It stated pretty much exactly what you said. Someone got creative and started sending out emails that looked like thy were from SBC, stating to send your user id, password info ect. They even set up a mock site to look like SBC's home site so you can easily send them your credit card info. Along with this stating that if you do not reply your service will be terminated.

So far I have had extremely good luck with SBC's email. I hardly get any spam (3-4 per week tops). Then if you would pop over to my hotmail account I get on upwards of 90 per day.

I just find it amusing on how these people are making viruses more and more creativly. Yet still until they find a way to bypass programs like Nortons, and have it so as soon as you open a email, the virus automatically extracts itself onto your computer, we will still have a chance. But think how far computers and viruses have come in the past 2-3 years. It is going to be interesting in the next few years to see how smart these people will get. It is only a matter of time.

Yeah, e-mails like these are really starting to piss me off. I used to be flooded with them in my hotmail and yahoo accounts, but I have since switched to a POP3 mail system from my domain and have been careful when giving e-mail addresses away to control this sort of spam.

Nevertheless, it still gets in and annoys the living crap out of me. Wish there was some way to end all this once and for all.

Very creative indeed. I had not heard of viruses being spread in this manner. Good thing I know now. Thankfully Hotmail's junk mail filter works quite well for me. All I get in my normal inbox is stuff I want. Once or twice a week I check my junk mail folder and all that's in there are weird e-mails with titles like 'zdjfhg' from persons named 'h'. Hehe, I can't believe some people would fall for those ones...
